God has a plan for His holy city and we have not seen the end of this amazing city of peace. The city of Peace became a blaze of war in 70AD and was toppled to the ground. The middle east has remained a mess since then with Jersulem always surprisingly at the center of takeovers, takedowns, and conflicts. Jerusalem has come to be one of the least likely places we’d look to find peace. But the final battle is not over yet. The Book of Revelation actually has a lot to say about this city’s final fate. In the New Testament Jesus declares the destruction of Jerusalem but is that really the end? Listen now! And find out why and city of hope, peace, and righteousness is cast down and destroyed. PODCAST| The Historical Certainty Of The Cross

Pastor Vinnie and Jon deeply explore both consensuses of modern scholars, as well as the political and theological reasons, as to why we can be certain that the historical Jesus really died on the cross for us. We are finishing up the Passion Week of Jesus we divide into the absolute historical certainty of the cross!

This is perhaps one of our most in-depth episodes this season so far this season and you will be thrilled with the certainty that Jesus finished the passion week dying for our sins. In this episode, we not only survey want several different scholars from outside of Christianity have to say about the cross of Jesus but we take a long hard look at the political role Pontius Pilate was put into and discuss the complex political realities of the cross and its timing.

At the Cross, two distinct political worldviews come into conflict; 1. The Roman and 2. The Jewish. And what is the conflict they must face? Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Is he really the King of the Jews? They provide an answer by putting Him on the Cross. It is on the Cross that we see most clearly who Jesus is and to what length He will go to make sure that both Roman, and Jews, have every possible opportunity to come to terms with who he really is. And so it is for us too today; The Historical certainty of the Cross asks us all to decide who really was Jesus of Nazareth? Was he just a good moral teacher? Was he just a renegade teacher trying to cast doubt on the Jewish elite leadership of the time? Was he a zealot seeking to rally Judah to stir up an insurrection against Rome? Or is He the Savior of the world? Since the historicity of the Cross can not be doubted these questions are real questions all serious students of history must now ask. Pastor Vinnie and Jon continue the second part in their three-part series on the Sermon On The Mount. The Sermon On The Mount is not only the most popular sermon Jesus preached it is also one of the most hard-hitting. In this episode, we get deep into come of the convictions Jesus is looking to provoke in this sermon.
Jesus is not pulling any punches in this sermon. He wants us to see that high calling He alone can raise us up to embrace. When we grasp what Jesus is saying in this part of the sermon we are forever changed! This is the core message of Jesus from the mount. It’s about conviction, acceptance, and reframing everything you thought you knew about God and the way the world works.

In his famous book on the Sermon on the Mount Dallas Willard explained interacting with the discord of Jesus from the mount like this;

“Recently a pilot was practicing high-speed maneuvers in a jet fighter. She turned the controls for what she thought was a steep ascent—and flew straight into the ground. She was unaware that she had been flying upside down. This is a parable of human existence in our times—not exactly that everyone is crashing, though there is enough of that—but most of us as individuals, and world society as a whole, live at high-speed, and often with no clue to whether we are flying upside down or right-side up. Indeed, we are haunted by a strong suspicion that there may be no difference—or at least that it is unknown or irrelevant.”  ― Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life In God

In this episode, we start a three-part focus on the ministry of Jesus in his home region of Galilee. We are going to be exploring the great miracles and events of Jesus on his own home turf. This amazing region boast of the great miracles and teaching of Jesus so buckle up and let’s get amazed!

Why does Galilee matter so much?

Jesus did not just come out of no place. So far we have studied the politics of this time, the issues surrounding his family and birth, and prophecies. We have discussed the rabbinical school system he grew up in, and now we will full three full episodes on the maturity of his ministry that bloomed at the height in his home region of Galilee.

Galilee is the location of the greatest miracles, the clearest teachings, and the formation and faith-building of all the disciples of Jesus all happened in Galilee. And it all starts here in this episode in the home synagogue of Jesus in Nazareth! We start this adventure in Nazareth and head forward even closer to the sea of Galilee at a fishing village called Capernaum!
