NOT ASHAMED

I am not ashamed of the Gospel.  But, I am sure ashamed of what some people think is the Gospel!

The Gospel is not (no ifs, ands, or buts about it):

• Your denomination

• Your good works

• Your bad works

• Your lukewarm works

• Your spiritual progress

• Your holiness

• Your political party

• Your heritage

• Your culture

• Your race

• How often you pray

• What you eat or drink

• A fine pressed suit

• A two car garage

• An excuse

• Your pet issues

• A right to hate

• Uniformity

• The privilege to put down sinners 

• The privilege to put burdens on others you know you can’t really carry yourself

• A reason for separation

• Islamophobia

• A flag

• A war on people who disagree with you

• Homophobia

• Xenophobia

• A reason for bad behavior in the name of truth

• A meme

• A tweet

• American exceptionalism

• Misogyny

• Nationalism

• White supremacy

• Perfectionism

• Being politically incorrect and blaming it on God

• Setting dates for the end of the world

• Socialism

• Capitalism

• Liberalism

• Conservatism

• Centrism

• All isms

• Prosperity

• Celebrity Pastors 

• Trendy services

• Boring services

• Perfect sermons

• Megachurches

• Large churches

• Medium churches

• Small churches

• Dead churches

• Organs

• Guitars

• Drums

• Hymns

• Traditional worship

• Contemporary worship

• Arrogance

• Control

• Being right

• Changing someone’s mind 

• Which translation you read

• Your social status

• Your health

• Your wealth

• Judging

• Violent

• Cruel

• Cynical 

Here is what that Gospel Is:

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.  Romans 1:16

‘Nuff Said.
